Loosely based on a true story, In 1755, a commoner-turned-captain, Ludvig Kahlen, sets out to conquer the harsh, uninhabitable Danish heath with a seemingly impossible goal; to build a colony in the name of the King.  Kahlen becines locked in a grisly land battle with a dastardly nobleman in Nikolaj Arcel’s entertaining, broad-brush epic, lent weight by its ever-reliable star, Mads Mikkelsen.
