Winner Grand Jury Award, South By Southwest Film Festival

A young wife and mother unexpectedly finds self-determination and self-respect when she is forced by impossible circumstances to accept work as a high-class prostitute.

“The writer-director’s first feature has much going for it, above all a striking performance by Emilie Piponnier in the title role.” – John DeFore, Hollywood Reporter

“French director Josephine Mackerras’ understated debut operates on the same intimate wavelength as Piponnier’s simmering desperation….ALICE succeeds as a sturdy window into one woman’s quest to take control of her oppressive world.” – Eric Kohn, Indie Wire

“ALICE is a brave, morally complicated tale that rests on Emilie Piponnier’s organic performance and Josephine Mackerras’ brave writing and direction.” – Kevin Lee, Film Inquiry

Language: French (English subtitles)

Length: 1 hr. 40 min.
