Rated 100% on Rotten Tomatoes
As you know, South Bay Film Society loves films that challenge us, that enable us to see the world in new ways, and that speak to our hearts…we highly recommend this excellent documentary.
LITTLE GIRL is the heart-breaking portrait of 7-year-old Sasha, born in a male body but certain, from the age of two, that she is female. Sasha’s family is forced to confront outdated norms and find affirmation in a small community of rural France. Multi-award winner Sébastien Lifshitz (4 selections in Cannes and 4 selections in Berlin) follows Sasha and her family for a year, capturing with his insightful, delicate and subtle camera their truly moving moments of joy and the many challenges they face together.
“The exquisite intensity, tenderness and occasional moments of anger did not let up and Lifshitz’s film-making was often sublime.” – Ben Dowell, Times (UK)
“Little girl, big documentary.” – Boyd van Hoeij, Hollywood Reporter
“A film to change the world.” – Lillian Crawford, Little White Lies
