Casey, a recent high school graduate, has lived in Columbus, Indiana her entire life and with a deep connection to her hometown and a struggling single mother who needs her help, she feels unable to leave.   Middle-aged Jin, estranged from his father and living in Korea where he translates literature, returns to the U.S. when his architecture professor father collapses on a visit to Columbus and is hospitalized in a coma.

Casey and Jin form a connection set in this small town renowned for one of the nation’s most remarkable concentrations of modern architecture from the 1950s by many of the most important architects of the 20th century, a once modern visage in an area that has been left behind in globalization.   All of these elements come together in a stunning work of art.

Visionary.   Few films glow as brightly with the gemlike fire of precocious genius.” – Richard Brody, The New Yorker

Something not merely impressive, but in every respect a surprise.” – Calum Marsh, Village Voice

A gentle but sharply defined story, brimming with grace, compassion and performances of perfect naturalism, it is unashamedly intellectual yet deeply human.” – Jessica Kiang, The Playlist
