Taking place in 1932 Vienna, the film is a very creative, smart and charming romantic vampire comedy/farce (not the gory sort of vampire film).  Lucy is a plucky waitress who wears the trousers in her relationship with artist Viktor who is in the employ of Dr. Sigmund Freud, illustrating the lusty dreams of the doctor’s patients.  He’s upsetting Lucy by desiring to change her from a headstrong woman into a demure and refined lady.  Soon a pair of depressed married vampires enter the mix, creating a mess of mistaken identities and misplaced affections, and proving that 500 years of marriage is enough.

Its sumptuous visuals and studiously Gothic sensibilities are all part of the charm, but the key to THERAPY FOR A VAMPIRE’s success is that at its unbeating heart it’s simply a very, very funny farce.” – Steven Neish, heyuguys.com

A seductive and hilarious take on vampire lore… Very clever and crackling with intelligent humor and subtlety. ” – Patrick Cooper, Fantasia ’15 Review

Very funny tale of undead love.  Director David Ruehm crafts this beautiful world with a master hand. ” – Adam Ruhl, Pop Culture Beast
